Haugland Group’s Earn and Learn Program Graduating 120+ NYC and Long Island Students—With Sports Power Infrastructure and Citi Field Fan Experience Elevating the Celebration

In a time when the U.S. is racing to build the next-generation workforce for energy, infrastructure, and advanced technology, one New York–based company is proving that the pipeline starts long before a job offer.

Haugland Group, a Melville, NY–headquartered infrastructure leader with projects spanning the U.S. and international markets, will graduate more than 120 students from its yearlong Earn and Learn: Building for the Future program. The milestone will be celebrated on August 26 at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, in partnership with Sports Power Infrastructure (SPI), a professional development and data intelligence platform that uses the influence of sports and entertainment to advance workforce and supplier development.

Beyond an Internship — A Launchpad for Careers

The Earn and Learn initiative has been more than an internship program. Over 12 months, high school youth, college interns, and educators earned paid, hands-on experience in fields shaping tomorrow’s economy, including:

  • Renewable energy and offshore wind
  • Underground utilities and energy transmission
  • Drone operations and site development
  • Advanced design tools such as CAD, BIM, and Propeller mapping

Participants also trained in:

  • Cost engineering
  • Safety protocols
  • STEM-aligned curriculum development for educators

The result is a talent pool that’s both career-ready and community-rooted.

“Over the past twelve months, we’ve watched students evolve from curious learners to confident leaders,” said a Haugland Group spokesperson. “Graduating at Citi Field reflects not only their journey—but also the growing demand for pathways into infrastructure, energy, and technology.”

Citi Field: Where Career Pathways Meet Game Day

The August 26 celebration merges the gravitas of a commencement ceremony with the electricity of game day. Highlights include:

  • Graduation ceremony recognizing a full year of training
  • Sports Power Infrastructure career and supply chain exploration with industry professionals
  • Networking with energy sector mentors and volunteers
  • Behind-the-scenes stadium tour before the Mets vs. Phillies matchup, followed by the game, with roundtrip transportation provided for every student

Regional Training Pathways Recognized

The event will also spotlight regional training programs designed to make infrastructure careers accessible across Long Island and New York City, including:

  • EmpowerHER — Preparing young women for trades and drone technology
  • Taste of the Trades 2025 — Immersive energy and manufacturing experience
  • Future Aviators in Energy — FAA drone prep, coding, and site visits
  • In-School Youth Construction and Energy Technology — After-school STEM instruction

  • Capture and share graduate stories from Citi Field
  • Spotlight student career aspirations
  • Create multimedia storytelling in collaboration with the Sports Power Infrastructure team
